Roofing & Wall Cladding Trainee Coppersmith (Dublin-Based)

Overview

Job Type: Staff member.

Salary: Basic salary (depending on construction experience).

Location: You will mainly be working on job-sites in Dublin and the surrounding area.

Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm (1-hour total for tea breaks and lunch break). On occasion you may be expected to work on Saturdays and do paid overtime.

Job Description: You will be working to support one of our Dublin-based installation teams. You will initially be providing general site labouring and carpentry services to demonstrate timekeeping and work attitude. You will then be sent on a FTMRC (Federation of Traditional Metal Roofing Contractors) basic hard metal installation training course to obtain the basic Coppersmith skills. After this training, you will be provided with daily tasks to build your speed and accuracy. There will be an initial 2-month trial period.

Responsibilities:

  • Job-site preparation
  • Installation quantities measurement
  • Removal of old roofs
  • General carpentry work to build up the substrate in preparation for roofing and wall cladding
  • Review of installation drawings
  • Driving to collect materials etc.
  • Job-site cleanup
  • Basic coppersmith fabrication and installations (after training)

Requirements

Essential requirements:

  • Accurate math skills (these will be tested if you progress to face-to-face interview stage)
  • Good time-keeping (i.e. arriving on job-sites so as to be ready to work at 8am)
  • Proactive attitude (i.e. not always waiting to be told what to do; able to keep yourself busy and productive)
  • Self-training (i.e. willing to use own time to consolidate skills with available video training and eager to learn through observation of the more experienced Coppersmiths)
  • Able to work outside in all weathers, all year round

Desired requirements:

  • Driving licence (own car or motorbike would be an advantage)
  • Some construction experience
  • Experience with driving transit vans
  • Ability to read construction drawings
